Page Sunday
Page Sunday.......
During that period in 2009/2010 while recovering from illness I joined the Kathryn Sussanah Pritchard Writing Group who encouraged me to take my writing seriously and helped me to gain confidence. What began as a way to take a rest from painting and focus on writing became a lot of years of writing books and poems.
The first work, 'The Story of Sirecho Mountain', contained 600 hand written pages after which had to be rewritten in the 3rd person. It took three years before it bore any semblance of a novel. I could not stand the story in the first person - it made me cringe. And yet - now after four books, poems and two others not yet resolved - I want to make another attempt to write it in the first person, now that I understand more fully how to do so. So it goes with writing!
I wanted to have the writing under a different name from the established one with the painting and quite a few came and went until I settled on 'Page Sunday'. Over time I have tried to have some work published and nothing was ever successful. I don't really worry about this because I believe it is much more important that the work gets done instead of being out there pounding my own chest!
Recently I again looked at getting something published and this time just did some research about this. What I have found is that all my writing so far is 'not enough' and much of it has to be 'filled out. But I will never agree to any 'Vanity' publisher or take on anything out of 'desperation'. I did not like what I discovered about the state of publishing in Australia where the requirement is to 'make money' and never mind about literary comment. I just haven't got the time........
